The Stinger Mantis coiffure, also abbreviated equally the Mantis coiffure, operated aboard the Stinger Mantis during the reign of the Galactic Empire. The crew was initially formed past the old Jedi Cere Junda, who wished to restore the Jedi Society some time afterwards Order 66. Junda hired the pilot Greez Dritus to transport her on her quest in his starship.^[i]

In 14 BBY,^[2] when Junda learned that the Royal Inquisitorius was headed to Bracca, she and Dritus visited the planet and rescued the old Jedi Padawan Cal Kestis, who joined the coiffure to assistance with Junda's quest. On Bogano, Kestis was joined by the droid BD-1, who had been left on the planet past Junda's former Master, Eno Cordova, to help guide futurity Jedi into finding a holocron that listed Strength-sensitive children in the milky way.^[1]

During a mission undertaken to Dathomir by Kestis, the Nightsister Merrin also joined the crew subsequently helping Kestis defeat Taron Malicos, a Jedi Master who had fallen to the dark side. The crew was ultimately successful in retrieving Cordova's holocron, but Kestis chose to destroy it to continue the children listed on it safe from the Empire.^[one] By 9 BBY,^[3] whilst Kestis and BD-1 had continued to travel together, the rest of the crew had seemingly vanished, every bit there was no ane operating the Mantis when information technology had landed on a planet.^[4]

At some signal during the crew'south travels, Kestis rescued a devious bogling while on Bogano. The bogling stowed away aboard the Stinger Mantis, becoming an inconvenience for Dritus, who was unaware of their stowaway'south truthful nature.^[i]
